Netflix Originals

I have been a subscriber to Netflix for well over 3 years now and can say it is easily the best monthly subscribed service I have ever paid for. We are currently in a golden age for Netflix with all of the great original content they are creating. So I thought I drop my top 5 recommendations on the original content that I have been watching. I am yet to watch Better Call Saul bear in mind (from what I have heard that is likely to score in the top 5).

5. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – throughout the 13 episodes of the show I don’t think there is a 5 minute gap where I didn’t laugh. There is so much quirkiness about Kimmy that screams Tina Fey and if you are a fan of 30 Rock you have to watch this show. Each of the main characters has their moments and will have you rolling around laughing. Me and AJ have watched through Season 1 twice already.

4. Grace and Frankie – AJ and I saw the trailer for this after we completed watching a season of something and thought it looked interesting. We gave it a go and I think it is fair to say it caught us both off guard. It is a drama about 2 families and how they deal with the husbands/fathers coming out with each other. There are some brilliantly funny moments in this show and moments that will bring tears to some peoples eyes (not mine of course).

3. Arrested Development (Season 4) – Yes Netflix brought back one of my favourite sitcoms for a fourth season with the whole cast. This must have cost a few bob as a lot of the stars are probably “too big” for it these days. I love the way the show builds each character’s story throughout the season and how it all ties up. To fully appreciate and enjoy season 4 I would suggest going back and watching the first 3 seasons. They are a delight.

2. Daredevil – Take all of your previous thoughts about Daredevil and the flop of the Ben Affleck movie chuck them in the bin. Stick this show on and enjoy. This is a much darker show than I expected with some great fight scenes and moments that will leave some people squealing. The casting for the show is top quality. Charlie Cox is a fantastic Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio is an amazing Wilson Fisk. The story line shows both men trying to make Hells Kitchen a better place in thier own way. Every comic book fan should watch this and every drama fan will love it as well.

1. House of Cards – 2nd in my Top 5 TV shows (http://www.cliveischampion.co.uk/top-5-tv-shows/) and I have done a blog for the arrival of season 3 (http://www.cliveischampion.co.uk/the-return-of-frank/). I am not going to say too much other than watch and enjoy. I don’t know a single person that has watched the show has had a bad thing to say about it.

I know there are some big names missing from the list and some new Originals just released which I am excited for, Sense8 being one of them. It just means I have more TV shows to watch… not that I am already massively behind on some shows as it is.
